American Pharoah, the Triple Crown champion, will race one more time, in October at the Breeders’ Cup Classic in Kentucky, his owner Ahmed Zayat confirmed Thursday.
Zayat conferred for over four hours on Tuesday with the colt’s Hall of Fame trainer, Bob Baffert, who assured him American Pharoah came out of the Travers Stakes — his first defeat in more than a year — in fine physical shape.
On Sunday, Baffert said that he wanted to train American Pharoah — thoroughbred racing’s 12th Triple Crown winner and its first in 37 years — for the $5 million Classic on Oct.
