American Pharoah stunned for first defeat of 2015

American Pharoah, the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years, led most of the way but was overtaken by Keen Ice in the $1.6 million Travers Stakes, racing's mid-summer Derby, at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday afternoon.

Keen Ice roared past American Pharoah down the stretch and stunned the Triple Crown winner, winning by three quarters of a length. Keen Ice is trained by Dale Romans and ridden by Javier Castellano.

It was just the second career win for Keen Ice, who was second to American Pharoah in the Haskell Invitational on Aug. 2. Castellano has won the Travers a record five times.
