HOUSTON — With Aaron Boone watching from the opposing dugout, Jose Altuve joined him in an exclusive club: Players who sent their team to the World Series with an epic home run.
Boone did it for the Yankees in 2003 by hitting a home run off Tim Wakefield of the Boston Red Sox, and Altuve did it by hitting two-run home run off Aroldis Chapman with two outs in the ninth.
The Houston Astros are going to the World Series for the second time in three years, and once again it is at the expense of the Yankees.
