Alex Morgan was excited when she found out that the U.S. women’s national team would face England in a Women’s World Cup tune-up on Oct. 7.
Morgan shared her elation after U.S. Soccer tweeted a photo of the tentatively scheduled match that included a previous, familiar hand gesture by the American striker.
“Oh they really put the ud83euded6 in that photo... we must mean business ud83eudd13ud83cuddfaud83cuddf8,” Morgan tweeted.
Morgan’s “tea-sipping” gesture stems from when the U.S. faced England in the ’19 Women’s World Cup semifinal. In that match, Alyssa Naeher made an 84th minute save on Steph Houghton’s penalty kick to secure a 2–1 victory for the United States.
