Adrian Peterson, Vikings restructuring last three years of RB's deal

Adrian Peterson received the additional security he sought, agreeing to a revised deal with the Minnesota Vikings in the form of injury guarantees for the 2016 season.

The star running back also got something that could prove more important: a structure that forces the Vikings to make decisions on his status one way or another before the first wave of free agency ends each of the next two years.

Two people with knowledge of Peterson’s new deal told USA TODAY Sports that the contract fully guarantees the $13 million he was already due in 2015. It also includes a $7 million injury guarantee for 2016 and converts part of Peterson’s base salary to a $5 million roster bonus due the third day of the league year in March, the same day the injury guarantee converts to a full guarantee.
