Michigan State basketball head coach Tom Izzo found himself an ace assistant coach when he hired Jon Borovich away from Northwestern. Since, he has concluded his third year in East Lansing, where he has cemented himself as an outstanding assistant coach with both the X's and O's, and the recruiting aspect.
Recently, Central Michigan's head coaching position has opened up, with Tony Barbee and the Chips parting ways. It now appears that Borovich is the top candidate for CMU.
Borovich does have a strong connection to CMU, having played at the school from 1997-2001. He has never been a head coach in his career, but his alma mater could be the perfect start.
