ACC says football title game to stay in Charlotte for now; Panthers back conference

Two North Carolina football powers, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Panthers, commented Thursday on the state's controversial House Bill 2, otherwise known as the "bathroom bill."

ACC commissioner John Swofford said at the conclusion of the conference's annual spring meetings that football championship games already scheduled to be played in Charlotte — where the game has been held sine 2010 — are safe through 2019. Anything beyond that is in doubt.

"Obviously, it’s playing out in ways that I guess none of us have envisioned,” Swofford told reporters, via The Charlotte Observer, “so I think a lot of us are dealing with something we’ve never dealt with before.
