Luke Gasparre is one of the most popular ushers at Citi Field in Queens, but he becomes even more popular during those rare seasons when the Mets manage to make the playoffs, as they last did in 2006.
Now that the Mets are in the World Series, Mr. Gasparre says he is suddenly hearing from old acquaintances.
“They’re all calling me asking for tickets now,” he said, between phone calls, in an interview at his home on Tuesday. “People are offering me 300, 500 bucks. I say: ‘Sorry, I can’t do nothing. I got to play the game straight.
