The trophy list speaks for itself: Eight Copa Americas, five World Cups, and a multitude of other accolades. It’s a pronounced history of soccer excellence. Brazil, after all, was once granted the honor of permanently keeping the Jules Rimet Trophy as the first nation to claim three World Cup titles.
Given its conspicuous amount of world success, it makes the single trophy missing from Brazil’s collection that much more … conspicuous.
There are no gold medals.
The accepted caveat is that Brazil has historically been indifferent to the Olympics. In truth (at least initially), the lack of attention was more to do with the International Olympic Committee.
