In the bleachers behind Ring 6 of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Pier 94 on Tuesday, Janice Lynch and Brenda Mantz of Falls Church, Va., were taking turns chatting up their Samoyeds while waiting for judging in the breed to begin. More important, the two dozen Samoyeds were biding their time until the Doberman pinschers got out of the ring.
Mantz flipped through her smartphone to show off images of her Samoyeds in the snow, in a kayak and pulling her bike. She pulled out a pink fingerless glove made from a Samoyed’s combings and Merino wool.
