The FIFA Confederations Cup kicked off on Saturday in St. Petersburg, and the hosts were happy after the opening 90 minutes. Russia cruised to a 2-0 victory over New Zealand and are now sitting atop Group A.
What did we take away?
Neither team could really string together passes and New Zealand's inability to attack, well, ever, made it so the match often came to a halt. There wasn't much in this one, with Russia clearly the better team, but not really able to do much of anything attractive.
