Dover International Speedway received its nickname early in its existence as it was coined by track CEO Denis McGlynn in the mid-1970s, largely because of how demanding it was on drivers and equipment. Check out some other fun facts about the one-mile concrete oval in Delaware.
If you go to Dover, you're going to see Miles the Monster everywhere. He's the winner's trophy, featured on the tickets, and as memorabilia. He's also a 46-feet tall structure outside the race track, one of the largest fiberglass structures in the country. He features a full-size stock car in his hand, and red eyes that light up at night.
