The San Francisco 49ers will reportedly not pick up the option for 2019 in veteran wide receiver Pierre Garcon's contract, making him a free agent.
Mike Garafolo reported the decision Thursday on NFL Network's Good Morning Football:
GMFBBreaking on @gmfb: According to @MikeGarafolo, the @49ers will not pick up the option for 2019 on WR @PierreGarcon. https://t.co/doaYudrcCu
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the 49ers attempted to trade Garcon during the 2018 season.
News of the Niners moving on from Garcon comes after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported this week that wideout Antonio Brown requested a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
