Brazilian Adilson da Silva teed off first at the 2016 Rio Olympics on Thursday morning to jump start golf's first appearance in the Games in 112 years. He teared up but ripped the first tee shot in his home country before shooting a 1-over 72.

"I can only compare it to when my son was born,'' da Silva said after finishing his first round. "It was incredible.'' That sounds like hyperbole, but da Silva has been talking up the moment all week.
