Notre Dame found out about the Mid-American Conference last week, as Northern Illinois left South Bend with a landmark victory. Bowling Green nearly did the same at Penn State. The MAC is not to be underestimated.
Mississippi State doesn’t carry the same cache as UT’s previous power conference wins, but the impact could be even greater. In the 12-team playoff era, the Rockets would have an opportunity to crash the party if they’re undefeated or 11-1 with a win over an SEC school.
