When the University of Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell takes his spot in the green room Thursday night at the NFL draft in Detroit, he will be the first Rocket in 31 years to be in that position.
Back in 1993, when the draft was still conducted in a New York hotel ballroom and the commissioner was Paul Tagliabue, Toledo’s Dan Williams was among the first-round prospects in attendance. He ultimately went to Denver with the 11th overall pick, to date the highest a Toledo player has been selected.
