AURORA, Ohio — University of Toledo senior Duncan McNeill claimed medalist honors at the Mid-American Conference men’s golf tournament Sunday after the final round at Club Walden was rained out.
McNeill shot 5-under-par 139 over 36 holes, finishing three strokes ahead of Kent State’s Gisli Sveinbergsson. He is the fifth Rockets golfer to earn medalist honors in program history, the first since Ciaran McAleavey won the 2008 tournament.
He also earned an automatic bid into a NCAA regional tournament. He will find out his destination at 9 p.m. Wednesday. It will be televised on Golf Channel. The regional is split into six sites: Pullman, Wash.
