When University of Toledo freshman AJ Edu was representing the Philippines in the FIBA U18 Asian Championships in Nonthaburi, Thailand this August, he and Penn freshman Michael Wang of China discussed an upcoming Dec. 29 matchup in Toledo.
The two talented freshmen will meet in Savage Arena on Saturday as Toledo (11-1) hosts Penn (10-2) and will rekindle a rivalry that began overseas in August.
Edu and Wang were two of the top performers in the Asian Championships and went head-to-head twice with the Philippines earning a 73-63 win over China in the Group stage and China returning the favor with a 76-57 win in the third-place game.
