Dyontae Johnson, Dequan Finn, Peny Boone, Kelvin Ateman, and Esean Carter are Detroit natives who won state championships at Ford Field.
So did Corey Parker as head coach at powerhouse River Rouge.
On Saturday, the hexad of Toledo Rockets hopes to encounter that championship feeling again inside the Detroit Lions’ stadium when UT faces Ohio in the Mid-American Conference championship game.
“I just can’t wait to get back to Detroit,” Finn said. “There’s a lot of old memories on that field. It’s a refreshing feeling. It means a lot just being from there.”
Perhaps no one is cherishing the moment more than Dyontae Johnson.
