CLEVELAND — The University of Toledo women's basketball team is out of the Mid-American Conference tournament following a 73-71 overtime loss to Akron today in a quarterfinal game at Quicken Loans Arena.
The fourth-seeded Rockets (17-13) erased a 12-point third-quarter deficit and led by two with the ball inside of the final regulation minute, but turned over the ball, leading to an Akron fast-break basket that tied the game.
The No. 5 Zips (19-12) never trailed during overtime.
Anita Brown scored 37 points for Akron on 16-for-30 shooting.
Brenae Harris led Toledo with 24. Joining Harris in double figures were Janice Monakana (14) and Ana Capotosto (11).
