MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — A strong start to the second quarter helped the University of Toledo gain a double-digit lead, and it resulted in a 93-68 victory over Central Michigan University in a Mid-American Conference matchup at McGuirk Arena Wednesday night.
After clinging to a one-point (19-18) lead through one quarter of play, UT outscored CMU 31-18 in the second stanza and led 50-36 at intermission. The visitors closed out the Chippewas with a 24-11 advantage in the fourth quarter.
The Rockets (17-4, 10-1 MAC) had a trio reach double figures in the first half alone. Quinesha Lockett managed 18 first half points, Soleil Barnes 12 points, and Sophia Wiard 11 points before the break.
