UT holds strong recruiting class

Given the turnover on the University of Toledo’s football staff since the end of the regular season, the Rockets still entered a recruiting dead period Monday in decent shape.

After Matt Campbell left Toledo to become the coach at Iowa State, the Rockets predictably lost some of their verbal commits yet kept the majority of its 2016 class intact.

UT had 19 nonbinding verbal agreements before Campbell left for Iowa State and took a significant chunk of Toledo’s coaching staff with him.

On Monday, 15 players remained part of UT’s next recruiting class.

The Jason Candle hire helped keep many of the top players Candle recruited as an offensive coordinator.
