University of Toledo true freshman cornerback Chris McDonald has been thrust into a starting role for the Rockets defense this season.
Despite some struggles with pass interference calls early in the season, McDonald has thrived opposite junior cornerback Samuel Womack in the secondary and is one of the reasons that Toledo's defense is much improved so far this season.
“He's played light's out,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said. “He's confident and very skilled. He's had a couple of pass interference penalties in early games where a young guy could crumble and fade away. He hasn't varied from his approach.
