The NCAA Board of Governors came to a significant agreement Tuesday in voting unanimously for student-athletes to benefit from the use of their name, image, and likeness.
This is a first, but significant step, for NCAA athletes to profit from their fame on campus and in the community.
For a school like the University of Toledo, the consensus is this vote, while significant, leaves much to be ironed out before the sweeping change takes over college athletics. And with proposed laws cropping up in individual states, much like California's Fair Pay to Play Act, many at UT feel action by the NCAA was an inevitable step.
