The University of Toledo has turned into an NFL talent incubator in recent seasons.
Now the Rockets will have an NFL-worthy field.
The playing surface at the Glass Bowl is currently undergoing a million-dollar overhaul. When the month-long project is completed, Toledo (and its opponents) will play on FieldTurf CORE 2.5, the same product used by the Detroit Lions, Cincinnati Bengals, Atlanta Falcons, and a handful of other NFL teams.
“If you want to play in the NFL, if you want to feel like you’ve had every opportunity to prepare for that, I think this field does that and more,” UT athletic director Bryan Blair said.
