COLUMBUS — Having the opportunity to compete Saturday at Ohio State was an experience senior Shalini Tallamraju described as being like having “the cherry on top” of an already "unbelievable" treat.
Tallamraju and her teammates on the University of Toledo women’s tennis team experienced a program breakthrough April 27 when the Rockets beat Miami 4-1 to capture the Mid-American Conference tournament championship, landing them a bid to the NCAA tournament for the first time.
That set the Rockets against the No. 12-ranked and host Buckeyes in a first-round match in the Ty Tucker Tennis Center.
Toledo, which lost 4-0 to Ohio State to finish 18-6, did everything it could to savor the experience and set the bar for future success.
