For the first time in program history, the University of Toledo women’s tennis team has won a Mid-American Conference tournament championship.
Playing in the Rockets’ home facility, the UT women defeated Miami (Ohio) 4-1 on Saturday to win the conference tournament.
The victory capped a 2-for-2 week for Rockets tennis. The Toledo men’s team won its conference championship April 21. Both teams gained automatic NCAA team tournament berths with their victories.
Singles competition in the championship round for the women was competitive, with five of the six matches going three sets and the sixth going to a second-set tiebreak.
