KALAMAZOO — The University of Toledo men’s tennis team is one match away from claiming its first Mid-American Conference tournament title and NCAA tournament berth in 40 years.
The top-seeded Rockets defeated Buffalo 4-0 in tournament semifinal play Saturday at Western Michigan. They will face the host Broncos, a 4-0 winner over Ball State, in Sunday’s 1 p.m. championship contest.
"It says 4-0 on the board, but trust me, this was a tight match," UT head coach Al Wermer said. "It may have been a shutout, but it wasn't a blowout. We survived and advanced."
Toledo won two of the three doubles sets to claim the first point of Saturday’s match.
