Barend Botha’s most reliable weapon on the golf course isn’t his driver, one of his wedges, or even his putter.
The University of Toledo junior leans on the mental side of the game to shoot consistently low scores.
“At the start of spring semester, I decided to start seeing the sport psychologist at the university because I thought there was room to improve there,” the South Africa native said. “Ever since I started going to the sport psychologist, it’s changed my mindset. I’m having more fun on the golf course and not putting too much pressure on myself to perform.
