BUFFALO, N.Y. – Toledo shot over 50 percent from the field and three-point range but 16 turnovers proved to be too much for the Rockets (8-6) to overcome in a 104-94 loss at Buffalo (9-6) on Wednesday evening. UT will look to bounce back from its defeat in its Mid-American Conference opener on Friday evening when it hosts Akron in Savage Arena at 6:30 p.m.
Senior guard Tre'Shaun Fletcher paced Toledo offensively with 27 points but was saddled with foul trouble much of the evening and played just 25 minutes. Junior guard Jaelan Sanford contributed 18 points and a team-high five assists, while sophomore forward Willie Jackson tallied his first collegiate double-double with a career-best 16 points and 10 rebounds.
