BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – Senior Saranlak Tumfong fired an even-par 72 in windy conditions on Monday and is tied for first place following the first round of the Chippewa Invitational. The tournament is being held at the par-72, 5,966-yard Birmingham Country Club.
Tumfong opened her day with a birdie on the par-four, 268-yard sixth hole and was never over par the entire day. She notched two more birdies but a bogey on her final hole kept her from posting a score in the red.
"Sara showed a lot of mental toughness and determination today," Head Coach Jenny Coluccio said.
