DENTON, Texas — Toledo’s stay in Texas was short-lived.
A second-half shooting slump doomed the Rockets in a 76-66 loss to Richmond in the first round of the National Invitation Tournament.
A double-digit lead turned to mush as UT shot 28 percent in the second half and converted just one of 14 3-point attempts. The cold spell was unforeseen during a torrid first half that saw Toledo shoot better than 50 percent and outplay Richmond for the better part of 20 minutes.
The Rockets had a scoreless streak of more than five minutes, and another field-goal drought of five-plus minutes.
