With the departure of wide receivers Cody Thompson, Diontae Johnson, and Jon’Vea Johnson, the University of Toledo football team is looking for a new crop of receivers to carry the torch moving forward at the position.
As two of the upperclassmen in the wide receivers room, senior Desmond Phillips and junior Danzel McKinley-Lewis hope that their leadership and experience in the program will lead to increased roles this season.
“I think number one they need to put their experience on the field to good use,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said. “They’ve both played in some really big games for us and they should have learned from those moments.
