The University of Toledo’s Joy Chirchir earned a slot in the NCAA women’s cross country national championships, the NCAA announced Saturday.
Chirchir, a freshman who finished 21st in Saturday’s Great Lakes regional in Evansville, Ind., picked up the third of four individual qualifying spots from that regional. She joins Ohio State’s Addie Engel (third at regional), Cincinnati’s Ellie Leather (14th), and Purdue’s Emma Tate (25th) as individual qualifiers from the Great Lakes regional.
Notre Dame and Wisconsin qualified their teams for nationals with top-two team finishes. Third-place Michigan, fourth-place Michigan State, and fifth-place Butler earned at-large team selections.
