University of Toledo football coach Jason Candle will not be the new head coach at the University of Central Florida.
The Orlando Sentinel reported yesterday that Candle was on the short list of candidates for the job replacing Scott Frost who left to coach at Nebraska.
UCF, however, announced today the hiring of former Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Heupel as its new head coach.
Candle led Toledo to an 11-2 record this season and its first Mid-American Conference championship since 2004. He was named MAC coach of the year.
The Rockets will play Appalachian State in the Dollar General Bowl on Dec.
