The nerves and skittishness Barend Botha experienced last year at the NCAA men’s golf championship are out of his system.
A year ago, the University of Toledo standout was happy to qualify and entered the week with modest expectations. In 2024, he’s intent on ending his college career with a bang.
And that means advancing beyond this week’s regional at Purdue’s Kampen-Cosler Course in West Lafayette, Ind., where Botha is competing as an individual.
“I feel pretty confident,” he said. “The game feels pretty solid right now.”
In his most recent event, Botha shot a scintillating 11-under-par 205 over 54 holes to win the Mid-American Conference championship for the second consecutive season.
