MUNCIE, Ind. — Four victories in singles matches allowed the University of Toledo women’s tennis team to advance to the championship match of the Mid-American Conference tournament with a 4-2 win over Miami (Ohio) at Ball State’s Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
The Rockets got victories from Cassie Alcala at No. 1 singles, Shalini Tallamraju at No. 3 singles, Mariona Perez Noguera at No. 4 singles, and Julia Kuszynski at No. 6 singles to advance. That happened after the fourth-seeded RedHawks took the doubles point from top-seeded Toledo by winning two out of the three sets played.
Perez Noguera clinched the victory for UT with a 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory that took an hour and 54 minutes to complete.
