The University of Toledo women's cross country team had five runners place in the top 17 overall to win the Mid-American Conference women's cross country championship on Saturday at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Freshman Joy Chirchir led the Rockets by crossing the finish line first with a time of 20 minutes, 23.2 seconds. Senior Semra Karaslan was right behind in second place (20:36.2). Junior Faith Linga placed fifth in 20:56.9. Lou Trois was seventh in 21:10.5, and sophomore Emily Vining completed Toledo's scoring with a 17th-place finish (21:42.4).
Toledo's combined score of 32 points was well ahead of second-place Miami (61).
