MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The University of Toledo led Central Michigan 55-44 with less than three minutes left in the third quarter before squandering the lead in the fourth but rallying for a 71-66 women’s basketball road win.
The Rockets outscored Central 9-0 during a critical 3:30 stretch to pull out the crucial Mid-American Conference victory. The Chippewas missed six consecutive shots during the stretch and turned the ball over three times.
Sammi Mikonowicz scored a game-high 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting to lead Toledo, which improved to 11-3 overall and 3-1 in the MAC. Mikonowicz had seven of the nine points during the Rockets’ decisive run.
