March Madness has arrived in Toledo.
In a thrilling, ear-drum-shattering comeback in Savage Arena, UT erased a 14-point third-quarter deficit to beat Kent State 64-60 and clinch a share of its second consecutive Mid-American Conference championship.
If the Rockets beats Bowling Green on Saturday, the title is all theirs.
“You can definitely tell it’s March,” Toledo coach Tricia Cullop quipped.
“It felt like the weight of the world was on our shoulders for a while,” she said. “A loss would have been devastating.”
Trailing 43-29 with 4:49 left in the third quarter, Toledo outscored Kent State 35-17 the rest of the game, including 27-15 in the decisive fourth quarter.
