KENT, Ohio — Toledo came into Wednesday’s Mid-American Conference showdown riding a five-game win streak, while Kent State had won six in a row and were unbeaten at home with a 5-0 record.
Something had to give, and that something was the Golden Flashes’ unblemished mark at home, as the Rockets pulled away in the second half for an 87-76 victory at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
Toledo improves to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the MAC with the win.
This keeps the Rockets in a tie for first in the MAC with Ball State, which earlier in the day defeated Central Michigan to also get to 5-0 in conference play.
