The University of Toledo women’s basketball team clinched its program-record third consecutive Mid-American Conference championship on Wednesday with an 87-41 victory over Eastern Michigan.
But they aren’t satisfied yet.
The Rockets only secured a share. They want three straight outright titles. And that only happens if they beat Kent State on Saturday.
On Tuesday, Toledo witnessed what can happen at this time of year, as the first-place Akron men’s team lost to woeful Eastern Michigan at home, and Eastern was without its best player.
The UT women faced a similar situation last week at Northern Illinois, which has been a giant killer in recent seasons.
