Savage Arena had the feel of a coronation even before tipoff of Wednesday’s Toledo-Northern Illinois game.
Season-ticket holders and University of Toledo supporters filed into the gym eager to celebrate the Mid-American Conference championship. The Rockets clinched the title on Saturday at Eastern Michigan, but designated Wednesday night at home as the official celebration.
It didn’t take long for the party to get started, as UT roared out to a 16-5 first-quarter lead. Less than two hours later, the Rockets put the finishing touches on a 74-56 victory, their 10th consecutive win and another by double digits in a season filled with them.
