NORTON, Ohio - The University of Toledo women's cross country team opened its 2024 season on Friday evening with a first-place finish at the Tommy Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Akron. The Rockets finished with 36 points, well ahea cond-place Ohio State's 68 points.
Freshman Melody Jebiwot made her collegian cross country debut a memorable one, taking first place with a time of 17:48.5 in the 5K race. Senior Lou Trois wasn't too far behind, finishing in fifth place with a time of 18:03.3.
The Toledo men's team raced just four runners so they did not qualify for a team score.
