VALPARAISO, Ind. — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team won the second of its grueling five-game road stretch Monday, topping Valparaiso 65-59 at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
Junior Mariella Santucci scored 15 of her 20 points in the first half, as the Rockets (3-2) rebounded from a 70-49 loss Wednesday at Dayton.
Senior Kaayla McIntyre added 14 points for the Rockets.
Meredith Hamlet paced Valparaiso (1-5) with 26 points. Whitmer graduate Bryce Blood notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Crusaders.
The Rockets shot just 29 percent (4-of-14) from the field in the first quarter but still led 15-14 after the opening quarter.
