KENT, Ohio — Toledo outscored Kent State 14-5 over the last four minutes to close out a victory in the Mid-American Conference opener as the Rockets defeated the Golden Flashes 69-60 in a women’s basketball game on Wednesday night.
With the game tied at 55, Quinesha Lockett hit a layup for Toledo with 4:01 left in the fourth quarter. Toledo’s Hannah Noveroske then got three baskets in the lane to put the Rockets ahead 63-57 with 2:06 remaining.
Toledo (7-3, 1-0 MAC) wrapped up the victory from the free-throw line as Sophia Ward went 4-for-4 and Lockett made two from the line.
