Wright State scored the first points on Monday in the season-opening game for the Raiders and Toledo women’s basketball.
Then the Rockets took over at both ends of the floor, exerting their will over an inferior opponent and playing as a mid-major powerhouse should.
UT went on a 30-0 run, forcing 16 consecutive missed shots and 10 turnovers over a nearly 14-minute stretch during the first and second quarters. It was the type of basketball the Toledo women’s basketball team expects over the next five months.
“I saw flashes of it, but I also saw flashes of things we need to work on,” Toledo coach Tricia Cullop said after her team’s 88-56 win.
