MUNCIE, Ind. — Advantage, Toledo.
In the first of three potential Mid-American Conference championship-altering games, UT outlasted Ball State in a 72-70 thriller on Saturday at Worthen Arena.
The Rockets trailed by seven early, led by 17 late, and stayed composed throughout as they became the first team to beat the Cardinals at home all season.
“Every win feels good,” Toledo point guard Sophia Wiard said, “but this one feels really good.”
The section behind the Toledo bench erupted in cheers after Ball State failed to get off a shot with 0.4 seconds left. The bench reacted similarly, with players spilling onto the court and then making their way to the crowd to celebrate.
