The University of Toledo men’s tennis team repeated as Mid-American Conference tournament champion on Sunday, defeating Western Michigan 4-1 at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts to clinch an NCAA tournament berth.
Like he did a year ago in a 4-3 victory over the Broncos, UT senior Pawit Sornlaksup clinched the title with his 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles over Western Michigan’s Benjamin George.
"I'm very happy for the guys," Toledo coach Al Wermer said. "If you're into coaching, that's what it's all about, the guys you work with every day. It's incredible.”
It was the second tournament title of Wermer’s tenure and ninth overall.
