Toledo will always be home for Pitt defensive line coach Tim Daoust

DETROIT — How many coaches wear a shirt with the area code of their opponent?

Tim Daoust might be the entire list. But that’s how important his hometown is.

The University of Pittsburgh defensive line coach never shies away from his Toledo roots, even when the Panthers play UT. That’s why he walked into Pitt’s football facility last week with a 419 across his chest.

“Toledo was, is, and will always be home,” Daoust said. “I have great pride in the city of Toledo.”

He had more than 20 friends and family at the GameAbove Sports Bowl on Thursday, prompting Daoust to joke that he won’t share with his wife what he had to do to secure all the tickets.
